Pooch_In_Love_With_Dottie_x_1600x1200We have made an enormous cock up! Last week,Pooch started becoming very interested in Dottie. We didn't take too much notice of this,as now and again he does this with different females. But it started us thinking about when we had gotten Dottie spayed! We have had her nearly two years! Yes you guessed it,somehow or other she managed to slip the net. Dottie is having her first season. What a nightmare!. Now it is no longer just Pooch that is interested in her. I am dreading next week, when she is ripe and ready! We have 9 males still intact here. It is going to be hell, and there is no way out.Of course we shall keep her isolated, but as you know dogs can smell a female on heat for many miles.Let the fighting begin!  I wish we had someone who could take her for a couple of weeks, but we haven't.
dottiesseason100_3734_1600x1200We keep saying, how did we let this happen! I was convinced all our females had been spayed. I suppose thats the difference between having a couple of dogs and having so many, you just lose track! Its an easy thing to do I suppose. With the males of course its easy to spot, with the females not. Oh how I wish all our males were neutered!! They are a complete pest!Neutering male dogs often means that they roam less, mark territory less, and are less dominant with humans and other animals. Neutered dogs are often healthier. Female dogs who have been spayed suffer less from heat cycles that can lead to personality changes.Dogs and bitches do not gain weight simply through sterilisation; this is controlled by diet and exercise, or genetic precondition.

OH MY,HOW DID WE LET THIS HAPPEN !!!!

Whoops.

Mind you Dottie must feel like she's the bees knees. Shouldn't the blokes be neutered as wll anyway Val?

(it's a bit late now as this woiuld probably disappoint Dottie...)

Yes the blokes should be neutered Nick, its purely finances that stop us. We have 9 more to do!! And they go by size, what would Nana cost!!We are firm believers ,if you are not a breeder, chop em off!!Especially out here where the problem is immense!

No what you mean! We missed one of the cats when we did the big neutering roundup early this year and now Biscuit has presented us with two kittens! Hopefully just two and she hasn't got anymore hidden away. I suppose we should look on the bright side and realise that if we hadn't had the other 10 done it would have been a whole new ball game ..... up to 40 kittens

Yes and you should be very proud of yourselves for what you do for the cats. X
