A couple of days ago,Mino and I popped out together for a short while, nothing strange in that you might think, but you would be wrong,we don't often go out together as we don't like leaving all these animals on there own for any length of time! Yes they have completley taken over our lives.

When we returned,Pino, previously called The Taranto Pup, was covered in blood.Panic stations! Lots and lots of blood.Of course we couldnt get near enough to him to see what had happened. We had thought he was begining to trust us,but with something like that,it put him back a bit. So over an hour later, and scrambling about on our hands and knees we finally got him cornered. I managed to get a collar on him and we quickly saw what it was.He had an enormous wound on the top inside of his back leg. Now our dogs don't fight, and Pino is such a lovely easy going boy,we know he wouldn't fight,so we can only assume,he was playing with Rags and maybe ripped it open on some wood. We have lots of trees and things in our garden. But of course we are never going to know how it happened, but it was an awful mess.

The Vet opened the surgery for us,as it was during their closed period in the afternoon. On the way there,I sat in the back seat with the dog,we had put towels and blankets under him so the blood would not go on the seats. Once arrived, Dott.Carlino sedated him and stitched him up,poor little boy.We have to keep him in indoors for a minimum of five days, out of the scorching sun and away from the dreaded flies! I was a little worried about that, due to him being a street dog! But I needn't have been,he cries when he needs to go out.We take him out wearing a harness with an extendable lead. He of course doesn't like it as its the first time he has experienced one! But he is getting better each time. His wound was very swollen yesterday so the vet said to put him on cortisone, and he has antibiotics. So hopefully he will soon heal and will be back out playing with Ragster again! Meanwhile Rags is patiently waiting.Till the next time Val x
