Over a week ago,two large dogs appeared at our gate, causing our dogs to bark like mad. They stayed around for a bit,but eventually they went on their way.A couple of days later the male dog was sat in the middle of the road, alone,we coaxed him off the road, and gave him some food and water. No sign of the bitch.Everyday since he has been laying in the middle of the road, refusing to move, traffic having to go round him. Yesterday we stopped as it had become increasingly dangerous for him,we put him in the car,as the road is getting busier and busier as the summer season progresses..We found later that his female friend had been killed where he was lying. How sad is that, this poor boy didn't want to leave the spot.He is lame on both front legs, and has a few open wounds.Maybe he had been hit by a car as well.We brought him home.
Once here we slowly introduced him to the others. Its always a little worrying bringing in male dogs, especially large ones. But this chap is barely a year old.Rusty is the biggest problem,he is in charge, once he has let a new dog know he is in charge, then almost always, everything is OK. Its also a big worry how they will react to our cats! At the moment he seems to be pretty much ignoring them. Lets hope that lasts.
He is a very large muscular dog,but his ribs are showing, poor boy. For Doggy Snappers out there,he puts me in mind of Roseanne's Carrick! Maybe not quite as big !(Yet)
I will let you know how we get on with him.
